If your visa application is approved, you will receive your passport and visa back through your chosen delivery options. You will receive a notification by email and SMS as soon as your passport is ready for delivery / collection.

You can have your passport with the visa delivered by courier to your private or business address in Switzerland or Lichtenstein, or you can pick it up at a specific location in Bern.

If you do not have an address in Switzerland or Liechtenstein, you can only choose the pick-up option.

Pick up yourself at the VFS Global office in Bern

You can pick up your passport at the following location. This delivery option is free.

Opening hours:Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The office is closed on Swiss and US public holidays.

You will be notified by email and SMS as soon as your pass is ready for collection.

You must have your passport within 14 calendar days pick up. Then the passport will be returned to the US embassy.

In order to receive your passport, you must present a valid photo ID (driver's license or ID card) at the VFS Global collection point. If someone else picks up your passport for you, this person must present a power of attorney and a valid photo ID (passport, driver's license or ID card).

Premium home delivery with Swiss Post

With this delivery option, your passport will be returned to the delivery address specified in your profile.An additional fee of CHF 18.50 is charged for this service. This delivery fee is due at the time the interview is scheduled and must be paid online.

You will receive an email and SMS notification as soon as your passport is ready to be sent. As soon as you have received the tracking number, you can check the status of your delivery here. Please note that the shipping information will only be available on the Swiss Post website on the next working day after receiving your tracking number. If your passport is unsuccessful, the package will be dropped off at the nearest post office. Swiss Post will leave a notification at your address. Please note that your passport to the U.S. Embassy in Bern will be returned if you do not pick it up at the specified post office within 10 working days.

The passport is only delivered against signature and only to the named recipient.


If your visa is rejected, you are entitled to a refund of the premium service fee ("Home Delivery" service), provided this is done with a credit or debit card via our websitewww.gtspremium.com was paid. After the visa has been rejected, you must send an email to within five working days[email protected] which contains your DS-160 barcode number. As soon as GTS has received the reimbursement request, it will first be checked. If GTS approves this, the company will initiate a refund to your already registered credit or debit card within ten working days. Those applicants who applied through a group payment and whose application was denied will also be eligible for this fee refund by following the step above. However, refunds are generally not possible for other reasons.

Note: All visas are sent by post to the applicant's address in Switzerland or Liechtenstein. As a rule, visas cannot be picked up at the embassy.

Change delivery options

You can get your desired delivery address for documents online or through the call center by midnight the day before of the interview.

We strongly advise against changing your delivery address after the allotted time frame, as this will result in delayed delivery of your passport.

Please note that passports can only be delivered to a valid address within Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Check your visa status

You can check the status of your application at any time on the following website: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx. Please wait at least three business days after your interview before checking the status of your application. The status of your application will not be updated until this point and the message posted in the system may not reflect the actual status.

Options to track your passport

You can choose from several options for tracking your passport.

If "Origination Scan" is specified as the status, this means that the passport has been sent by the embassy or consulate and is on the way to the delivery address. However, this is not yet available.

If the status is "Ready for Pick Up", it means that Swiss Post is about to send your passport to the delivery address you specified. You can track the status of your delivery here. Please note that the delivery information will only be available on the Swiss Post website and only on the following working day after you have received your tracking number.

The embassies or consulates cannot give you any information about the status of the passport dispatch. Please do not contact your embassy or consulate regarding the status of your passport dispatch.
