Items that are prohibited on the aircraft for safety reasons.

New safety standards on powdery substances

Restrictions are imposed in the following countries: USA, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica.

It is forbidden to carry powdered substances in hand luggage, (*) exceeding 12 oz / 350 ml / 350 g.

  • We recommend carrying these substances in checked baggage to avoid confiscation at the security checkpoint and / or gate.

  • Exceptions (**):
    Medicines with a prescription
    Food for toddlers
    Cremated human remains
    Powdered substances purchased in duty free shops if they are in a sealed STEB bag (Secure Tamper Evident Bag)

Prohibited items that cannot be taken on the plane

Ammunition, detonators, explosive devices, detonators, mines, grenades, flares, explosive charges for military use, fireworks, pyrotechnic elements, smoke bombs, smoke cartridges, dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives.
Flammable liquids Flammable liquids such as gasoline, diesel oil, methanol, paints, varnishes, turpentine, solvents, petroleum, adhesives or alcohol.
Flammable Solids or Reactive Substances Flammable solids such as magnesium, detonators for fireworks, celluloid films, sulfur, charcoal, matches and generally flammable substances, either because they are auto-reactive substances or fuels.
Oxidizing materials and organic peroxides Oxidizing materials and organic peroxides, e.g. B. lye, body repair kits, fertilizers or chlorates.
Toxic or Infectious Substances Toxic or contagious substances, such as self-defense devices, rat poison, poisons, diagnostic samples, vaccines, insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, arsenic, infected blood, bacteria or viruses.
Radioactive material Radioactive material such as pharmaceutical products with radioactive isotopes.
Corrosive materials Corrosive materials such as acids, alkalis, devices containing mercury, electrical accumulators, automobile batteries and battery-operated electrical devices.
Lithium batteries and electronic cigarettesLithium batteries, electronic cigarettes * and other dangerous items such as first aid kits, ferromagnetic material, dry ice and car batteries. * Transport is only permitted in the aircraft cabin
Security equipment such as briefcases, safes, money bags that contain lithium batteries or pyrotechnic material. Smart suitcases are NEITHER allowed as checked baggage in the hold or as hand baggage unless you take them into the cabin as hand baggage without batteries.
Compressed, liquefied, chilled and liquefied or dissolved gases such as propane, butane, acetylene, oxygen, nitrogen, insecticides, compressed air cylinders for diving or refills for lighters.
Other dangerous objects Objects such as internal combustion engines, magnetized material, lithium batteries or genetically modified organisms.
Liquid oxygen devices Liquid oxygen devices and stun guns that contain explosives, compressed gases, or lithium batteries.

Firearms

Weapons in general (pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, toy pistols, reproductions of firearms, air guns, flare / signal pistols, bows for arrows, crossbows, harpoons / rifles for fishing, slingshots, slingshots). Explosive and flammable substances and objects

Substances and objects that can cause serious injuries or create the impression or threaten the safety of the aircraft (ammunition, detonators, explosives, imitations of explosive devices, mines, grenades, fireworks, smoke cartridges, dynamite, gunpowder, plastic explosives).

Liquids in hand luggage regulations

First guideline Liquids, gels and / or aerosols, except in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100 milliliters.
Second guideline: The containers must be in a transparent, resealable bag with a maximum capacity of one liter.
Third guideline: The contents must fit snugly in the bag. The bag must be tightly closed and presented separately at the security check of hand luggage.

Information about electronic devices

You can use your electronic devices during the flight, unless the on-board personnel exceptionally instruct otherwise. These electronic devices must be set to flight mode or the data reception and transmission systems such as WLAN or Bluetooth must be switched off.

The use of electronic cigarettes, toys with radio signals, devices with data transmission without flight mode and radio remote controls is prohibited.

The transport of any dangerous goods not listed in the table as hand baggage or checked baggage is absolutely forbidden.
