What is the best tablet to buy

The best tablets in 2021: My test winners

Which is the best tablet out there? And which ones offer the best price / performance ratio? The selection is huge, because manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Lenovo have a large range that is renewed almost every year. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep track of so many devices.

Well, that's where I come in. I've been testing tablets since 2008 and have tried pretty much every model that has ever appeared in Germany. In this article you will find my current recommendations - they are my personal test winners.

The three tablets I mention here are great choices for most. If you're looking for something more specific, you can find more leaderboards below. There I have listed the best Android tablets, as well as the best with a keyboard or pen.

My detailed test reports are linked. You can also find all my tablet tests here.

The best tablets: my test winners

The following tablets are the best choices for most people in my opinion. If you are looking for something special, you should take a look at my toplists below.

Apple iPad Pro 2020: The best tablet

Apple iPad Pro (2020) on * Amazon

The Apple iPad Pro 2020 is undisputedly the best tablet on the market. Due to the A12Z Bionic processor, it is more powerful than any Android tablet. You can even use it to edit 4K videos and use professional Photoshop alternatives.

At the same time, the iPad Pro has a very chic and bright display that can be 11 inches or 12.9 inches, depending on your preference. It is rounded off by a high-quality metal housing and numerous premium features. These include Face ID facial recognition, four great speakers, and optional accessories like the Apple Pencil 2 and the official keyboard covers. There are two of them.

Since iPadOS 14 it supports many exciting functions for the stylus. This includes handwriting recognition with "Scribble", which works in every text field. Because it now also supports mice and touchpads, it is ideal for working. It is also perfect as a game tablet for games like Fortnite or PUBG Mobile.

However, the iPad Pro has one major disadvantage. It is expensive. Very expensive. The recommended retail price starts at 879 euros without accessories.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7: A price / performance winner

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 on * Amazon

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is inferior to the iPad Pro in pretty much every way. Although it is very cheap with a recommended retail price of 223 euros, in my opinion it is the perfect tablet for many people. Especially if you don't want to invest a lot of money and are looking for a good price / performance ratio. It is very suitable as a tablet for Netflix, YouTube, for surfing the net and for many games.

With the Galaxy Tab A7, we get a good 10.4-inch FullHD display and an octa-core processor that can handle almost all games. It also has a metal housing and features such as a microSD card reader and optional LTE.

It is also positive that the very latest software is preinstalled with Android 10 and One UI. In the past, Samsung was also very exemplary with updates to the Galaxy Tab A series.

You have to do without premium features at the price. It neither has a fingerprint reader nor does it work with an active pen.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7: The best Windows tablet

In my opinion, the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is the best Windows tablet out there. Thanks to the tenth generation of Intel Core processors, it is powerful enough to replace a premium notebook or desktop PC. Not only is it fast enough for office work, it is also fast enough for programs like Adobe Photoshop.

In my test, the Surface Pro 7 also did so well because the design is great. It has a high-quality metal housing with a built-in kickstand, thanks to which the tablet can be set up smoothly at any angle. There are also excellent accessories with the Type Cover and Surface Pen.
