Starting signal for new advanced courses in the BIM standard of German Chambers of Architects and Engineers

The digital information evening on the BIM qualification program - planning, building and operating the academies of the chambers of architects and engineers will take place on November 19, 2020. The new advanced courses in the BIM standard of German Chambers of Architects and Engineers, which build on the BIM basic courses that have been running successfully since 2018 and focus on information creation, information coordination and information management, will be presented.

Cooperation agreement signed between BAK, BIngK and ZDB for joint training in the BIM standard of German Chambers of Architects and Engineers

Increasing digitization offers planners and those involved in construction the opportunity to coordinate their services and thus render them even more effectively for the benefit of the client. The prerequisite for this, however, are qualified and interdisciplinary advanced training courses for the professions. For this reason, BAK, BIngK and the Central Association of the German Construction Industry have decided to work together and offer further training courses on Building Information Modeling (BIM) in accordance with the "BIM standard of German Chambers of Architects and Engineers". A milestone for the interdisciplinary advanced training and networking of architects, engineers and public clients on the BIM method has been reached: The Federal Government is adopting the “BIM advanced training standard of German Chambers of Architects and Engineers” for the advanced training of civil servants in the public building administration.

A corresponding cooperation agreement on joint courses on digital planning methods was signed by State Secretary Anne Katrin Bohle, Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs (BMI), Barbara Ettinger-Brinckmann, Federal Chamber of Architects (BAK), Wilhelmina Katzschmann, Federal Chamber of Engineers (BIngK). The certificate of attendance for the courses will also serve as proof of qualification when public construction projects are awarded.

The BIM standard of German Chambers of Architects and Engineers

The digitization of the construction industry is advancing and is currently in an exciting and challenging phase. The demand for qualified employees, both on the planning side and on the client side, is great. Therefore, there is an increased need for training, further education and training, especially when teaching the BIM methodology. The Federal Chamber of Architects and the Federal Chamber of Engineers with their 31 regional chambers face this task. For this reason, a nationwide and uniform advanced training standard "BIM Standard of German Chambers of Architects and Engineers" was established for the area of ​​digital planning and construction. With the introduction of the "BIM Standard of German Chambers of Architects and Engineers", the nationwide curriculum, a quality-assured and comprehensive offer was created. The guideline VDI / buildingSMART 2552 Part 8 ff. Serves as the basis for the advanced training courses.

BIM training at universities and colleges

There are 72 universities in Germany where you can study architecture. Currently around 30 of them offer training opportunities on the subject of BIM and / or research on the subject of computer-aided simulation-based design methods.
