Paradise on a 2021 Military Budget - U.S. Military Career
Military holiday destinations save you room and board and travel to and from the airport can also be reduced. Flight level Available on military flights. What typically costs thousands of dollars for most people can only be a few hundred for a military or retired member. Traveling and staying are some of the most beautiful vacation spots in the world if you are in the military or retired and you are learning the following secrets:
The secret is to take advantage of a little-known military advantage: the Armed Forces Vacation Club. Military service members (including active and inactive Guard and Reserve members), retired members, military family members, and 100% disabled veterans can rent luxury condominiums in locations around the world at the low cost of $ 329 per week. That's about $ 47 a day!
There are hundreds (probably thousands) of condos around the world. Often someone buys a "time share" and then has no opportunity to use it. These unused time-share weeks are sometimes rented out by the Condo Management Association instead of leaving them empty. The Department of Defense's Morale, Social, and Recreational Services have signed special contracts with many of these management associations to offer military personnel the unused portion of their time for the staggering price of $ 329 a week.
This is an incredible savings. For example, the regular price for a stay at The Maverick is $ 110 per night. The Armed Forces Vacation Club allows us to stay at this luxury resort for seven days, for about the same price that others pay for three nights.
Maybe Florida is not your thing? The Armed Forces Vacation Club has entries for nearly every state including Europe, Australia, Bahamas, Africa, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, India, and the Pacific I want to go.
Using the Armed Forces Vacation Club to find and reserve a luxury vacation home for your next vacation is easy.
If you've never used them before, the first thing to do is to call the Armed Forces Vacation Club at 1-800-724-9988. Opening times are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). If you cannot call 800 from your location, the local phone number is 1-317-805-9975. This is a toll call, so you will have to pay all telephone charges.
Before calling for the first time, you will need to look up the Property ID number of the base you are stationed at (if you are retired, find the number of your preferred military base). This is because the local Morale, Welfare and Leisure Agency receives a portion of every rental fee.
The first time you call, the friendly staff at the reservation center will give you an account number and password. Write this down in a safe place. You can then use this information to log in to the Armed Forces Vacation Club website and make online reservations.
You can also use the website to search for available vacation rentals. Then reserve the apartment by calling the phone number above. To make a reservation, you need the following information:
- Your name
- How many people are traveling with you?
- Your service point
- Your installation number
- The location (and name) of the apartment you want to reserve
- The dates you want to reserve
- Your credit card number
Condos may be available for Armed Forces Vacation Club members from 2 to 365 days prior to the check-in date. As soon as they are available, they will be listed on the website and can be reserved. Once a reservation has been made, the unit will be removed from the available reservation pool and the unit will be yours. The reservation is guaranteed. Reservations are made based on availability, so a high-demand location may be available in the morning but will no longer be available until that afternoon.
A word of warning when planning a vacation to Mexico or the Caribbean: Some resorts in Mexico or the Caribbean are all-inclusive resorts. This means that the resort offers all meals, drinks, entertainment and sometimes day trips, just like on a cruise ship. Anyone staying at an all inclusive resort pays a per person fee for this service (in addition to the $ 329 per week rental fee). In some resorts this is optional. For others, it's a mandatory fee. Condo owners at these resorts will also have to pay the fee if they remain in their own property.
This fee can sometimes be up to $ 1,000 per week. All-inclusive terms and rates are set by the resort and the Armed Forces Vacation Club has no control over them. These resorts are well marked on the website and the vacation consultants will ALWAYS warn you when you call to make a reservation. If you do not want to pay these prices you will have to choose another location that is not listed as "All Inclusive".
All in all, you will have to search hard to find a better vacation deal on your military budget.
