Is Macron gay

Young man shows the middle finger in a photo with Macron

Paris - A photo of French President Emmanuel Macron with a man showing the middle finger causes a stir. The picture was taken during a visit by Macron to the Caribbean island of Saint-Martin, which is partly part of France. The head of state had himself photographed with two young, dark-skinned men, one of whom is bare-chested and holds his middle finger in the camera.

The right-wing populist Marine Le Pen described this as "unforgivable". "We are speechless with outrage," she wrote on Sunday on Twitter. "France certainly doesn't deserve it."

Macron loves "every child in the republic"

Macron, on the other hand, tried to defuse the polemics immediately. He loves "every child in the republic, no matter what stupid thing they do". He wants to help the youth. One of the two men in the photo was recently released from prison after serving a sentence for a robbery. In view of Le Pen's remarks, Macron warned against a "discourse of hate".

According to the president, the two men had carried a disabled girl to him after the admission. "They were able to do that because I looked at them with confidence, because I respected them, this is the republic," said the president.

Second middle finger

A 61-year-old man was arrested in April for showing the middle finger to the President during his visit to the Vosges Mountains. Although he risked six months imprisonment and a fine of 7,500 euros for disregarding a person entrusted with public authority, the pensioner finally received a simple reminder of the law.
