I have a thing for skirts ....... as a man

The headline may be irritating, but I have to get rid of it.

How it all started: There were two wardrobes in my teenage room back then. I was able to use the compartments in both closets, while in one of the closets in the area for pants and jackets there were older skirts from my mother. One day, when I was twelve and at home alone, out of curiosity I put on a skirt, or more precisely a kilt. I used the worn skirts that had been stored in my closet from time to time, because skirts have fascinated me ever since.

At school I was always happy when one of my classmates or teachers wore a nice skirt. And today I feel the same way with my colleagues in the company. And when a colleague who usually only wears pants comes to work in a skirt, I often think: "Finally she's wearing a skirt."

In the meantime I have graduated from high school, completed the armed forces and studied, but the skirts never let go of me. Whenever I was on vacation from the German Armed Forces, I was looking forward to a rock or two on the way home. I bought my first skirt with the discharge money from the Bundeswehr. When I bought it, I was more afraid than many a shoplifter. Some of my mother's skirts, which should actually be in the used clothes collection, "somehow" ended up with me. But I had to take the skirts to the tailoring shop. Not only did I have them made tighter, but a lot of these skirts had to be shortened because my mother is almost a head taller than me.

In the meantime I have developed a particular weakness for uniform skirts. And that's how it happened: many years ago I was at the cup final in Berlin's Olympic Stadium. I had a seat in the fan block near the main stand. Inside, where the coaches' benches are, I saw a policewoman in what was then a beige uniform. Until the final whistle, I enjoyed the sight of this policewoman in a skirt. After the final, I built up a collection of various uniform skirts from the train, post office, customs, army and police. And when I'm at home alone (I'm single at the moment), I almost exclusively wear a (uniform) skirt.
A few years ago I was in a language school in Russia. International Women's Day was also at this time. I saw a report about it on TV. The then President Medwjedew received around 100 women from various areas of life in Russian society. There were also many uniformed men there. But all women wore a skirt. This television report was a pleasure for me.

Some readers may wonder what about sexual orientation. I am straight (or straight). In any case, there have been partners in my life. My last partner, however, mostly wore trousers, didn't know anything about the inclination, but still found it strange that I "know my way around skirts well".

But even on days off I sometimes wear a skirt on the street, but far from home, where I am not known. But also in tolerant countries (e.g. the Netherlands, Great Britain, Denmark) I was in rock on the street. I also find it fascinating to see how you go up stairs in a skirt, drive a car or how the wind blows your skirt on a ship.

And when it comes to a conversation, I always notice that women deal with this topic more easily than men This often leads to interesting conversations about skirts.

I often ask myself: Where does this fascination for skirts come from, or to see life from a (partial) female perspective?

I would be happy about good comments and I will of course answer further questions

    LG

I've seen men in skirts when I've been to medieval festivals, I actually thought that was a good thing, I also like music like that ... and men with long hair too

Find skirts are for women, except for cultural clothing like Scots. I find dresses and skirts very feminine and sexy.
But there are all sorts of things, I've seen a photo of a craftsman who prefers to work in high heels with very high heels. It only worked because he worked in a very tolerant research environment.

    Hello Tomma,

As an absolute newcomer to this forum, I have just found and read your post. I can find myself in it 99% of the time, so you are not the only man in this world who likes to wear skirts. Unfortunately, I cannot answer you directly because I have not yet written 15 posts. But here's the following tip, if you don't know it yet: there is a special men's rock forum. You can find it using the search engine under the keyword "rockmode". There you can exchange ideas with other rock wearers - and at the latest then you will realize how many men there are who secretly or in public - some even at work - wear skirts. And there are more and more !

I hope to have helped you a little and greet you,

    Radix

    Hello everybody!

I know the post (s) are a few days old, but maybe someone reads the lines from time to time.

I am also a passionate rock wearer and have been in rock several times, which has never led to any problems. When forays through the net on this topic you come across posts like this again and again and I'm sure there are a large number of men who would like to wear skirts. I have started an online petition for this, and I hope to get a lot of "signatures". With the list I would like to set an example for the fashion industry and try to increase the acceptance of the man in rock. But please just take a quick look at the petition and if you want, then sign it. It doesn't hurt either and it's free ;-)

Here is the link to the petition:
    Hello everybody!

I think there are skirts that men can wear, such as the denim skirt. There are also a large number of men who would like to wear skirts but do not do it in public because there is a lack of acceptance. To change this, an online petition has been launched. With the hope of getting a lot of "signatures" and thus being able to set an example for the fashion industry.

Anyone who envisions or would even wish to see men's skirts should be encouraged to take part. It doesn't hurt at all :-D

    Thank you and best regards!

    Hello waterferret,

Your idea of an online petition in all honor, but what should it bring? Wearing a skirt as a man is not forbidden, so I wonder what such a petition is supposed to do. If it were forbidden to walk around in public as a man in a skirt, then such a petition would of course make sense to abolish the ban. But where there are no bans, such a petition is superfluous in my view.

On one point, however, I agree with you: you would have to come across the fashion industry to offer skirts for men or at least to present them not only in the women's, but also in the men's departments of department stores. It would probably be even better if you could get two or three celebrities (e.g. actors, musicians, politicians) to wear rock in public - even at work, if you like. Such a role model could, in the course of time, break the dam of the previously hesitant men who would like to wear skirts, as one can then always refer to the prominent role model or role models.

Otherwise, my motto is: convince by simply doing it, i.e. by wearing a skirt over and over again - also and especially in public. At some point people will have got used to men in skirts, just as they got used to the image of women in trousers.

    In this sense, many greetings

    Radix
