Is Sadhguru true

Getting rid of the karmic structure

Questioner: If our thoughts reflect our karmic structure, can changing our thinking patterns affect our karmic structure? And how can we get free from it?

Sadhguru: There is a difference between thinking and thinking. Thoughts just drift depending on the content of your mind. Thinking means thinking about something consciously. How you think can be greatly influenced by the content of your mind, but your intellect still has some discretion to think further if you are willing. In the “Inner Engineering” and “Isha Yoga” course programs, we spend over thirty hours with you to teach you a twenty-one minute exercise. What we are doing at this time is to help you consciously think beyond your karmic limits. If you have a certain Kriya or Sadhana of any kind and your thoughts do not support this, it may be that the energy breaks up, but leads your thoughts downwards. When thought and energy collide it will create a certain amount of friction and struggle.
If you do the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya without creating the psychological ambience, the energy will go up, but your mind will pull it down.

This is what happens to many people. You sat in the class and suddenly understood: “Yes, that's really me, who does all of this. I always thought it was someone else doing something to me, but in reality it is me! ”During the first three months after the class, this was true for you. It was like a dream - everything was changing. But slowly people are falling back into the same old patterns. You start again to blame others for what is happening in your life. That means you are restoring your ignorance. Then there is no longer any ambience in which your sadhana can unfold. If you do the exercise without creating the necessary psychological ambience, it will only bring health benefits, not transformation.

This is not because the exercise wears out. It is not because your sadhana has become ineffective. It is simply because you are not creating the psychological ambience necessary for the exercise to be successful. If you do the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya without creating the psychological ambience, the energy will go up, but your mind will pull it down. Therefore, those of you who have completed the course program should give yourself a three-minute crash course in Inner Engineering each day before the Shambhavi.

Just one exercise is enough. If you indulge in this one thing, it will take you all the way through.

This crash course will create the necessary psychological ambience in which you can distance yourself from your karmic structure. If you fail to create this psychological ambience, the contents of the mind will catch up with you. What we offer you in the Inner Engineering course is a foolproof way to fix this. There will be no reason for you to get caught up in anything. If you fix this every day and do your exercise, the transformation will be an ongoing process. As long as you are alive, the transformation will go deeper and deeper. Just one exercise is enough. You don't have to do different things all the time. If you indulge in this one thing, it will take you all the way through.

To get rid of one's karmic structure does not mean to forget about it. Forgetfulness is not freedom. It is important to know it, but not to hold onto it. Not knowing something is not freedom. Knowing it and being untouched by it is the most important thing. If you can create this ambience, it will take you beyond your karmic structure.

Editor's note: Inner engineering offers tools to find a balance between the challenges of working life and the inner longing for peace. The course program offers the opportunity to be initiated into Shambhavi Mahamudra, a powerful Kriya developed by a realized master.
