Game of Thrones: Sandor as a royal bodyguard

In Game of Thrones season 1, Clegane was the bodyguard of Joffrey Baratheon at the royal court. On the king's orders, he kills a friend of Arya's and ends up on her list of people she wants to kill. He also saves Loras Tyrell from his brother when he breaks out in a rage after a defeat.

The fight against the fire

In GoT Season 2 he even tries to convince Sansa to escape from King's Landing. When she refuses his help, he deserted alone. He meets the Brotherhood Without Banners and Arya. This accuses him of killing innocent people. In a judgment through a fight with Beric Dondarrion, the dog can fight for its freedom. Arya tries to escape from the Brotherhood, but is captured by Sandor.

The impossible mission

In Game of Thrones season 3, Sandor tries to hand Arya over to her mother for a ransom. When they get to the twins, however, the two witnesses the "Red Wedding", in which both Catelyn and Robb Stark are murdered.

Together the dog moves on with Arya through Westeros. He now wants to bring her to Hohenehr to receive a ransom from her aunt Lysa Arryn. During their journey, they develop a kind of friendship. When they arrived in Hohenehr, they found out that Lysa Arryn was also dead. The two move away and meet Brienne von Tarth and Podrick Payne.

The dog is badly wounded in a duel with Brienne. After Arya refuses to go with Brienne, she takes the dog's money and leaves him to die. The dog calls after her to give him the coup de grace, which she does not do.

Sandor Clegane returns

After not being seen in GoT season 5, the dog returns in Game of Thrones season 6. It turns out that the half-dead Clegane was nursed back to health by Brother Ray. One day, Sandor returns from chopping wood and finds Brother Ray and his followers dead. Sandor recognizes men of the Brotherhood without banners as the guilty and hunts them down.

He meets again Beric Dondarrion and Thoros of Myr, who want to hang the guilty and thus deserters of the brotherhood. Sandor demands that the executioner's rights should be his. Together with the Brotherhood, he moves north in GoT Season 6 to fight the White Walkers.

Once in the north, he accompanies Jon in Game of Thrones season 7 to capture a revenant. The captured undead is considered evidence of the White Walkers and the threat from the north. Sandor returns from the mission and presents Cersei to the undead when they meet in the dragon pit. He sails to Weisswasserhafen with Jon, Daenerys and Tyrion.

Sandor's revenge on Gregor

The dog fights on the side of Daenerys and Jon in the Battle of Winterfell. Despite his great fear of fire, he is able to save Arya's life when she is attacked by the undead. After the battle, he makes his way to King's Landing alone, but Arya finds him in time and they set off together. The dog has one goal: to find his brother and kill him. While the battle rages in King's Landing and Daenerys turns King's Landing to rubble, the two brothers fall into the flames after a long fight and die at the end of GoT Season 8.
