How do you say please in Persian

The most important words for a trip to Iran

Iran is a country that has opened up significantly to tourism in recent years. A travel destination where you will meet warm-hearted and hospitable people, but which will welcome you a hundred times more warmly if you show some knowledge of Persian during your trip to Iran.

Grammar and spelling

Persian grammar is extremely simple and there is no distinction between male and female. There are no exceptions to the conjugations and the order of the words in the sentences is very loose. The verbs can express time and aspect and correspond to the subject in number. Iranians will appreciate it if you speak a few words of their language, even if your language expression may sound unorthodox.

In Persian, personal pronouns are not used to conjugate verbs. They are only used to reinforce or clarify something.

Most of today's Persian is written in a form of the Arabic alphabet with 4 additional letters, since four Persian sounds do not exist in Arabic (پ- pe, چ- tche, ژ- je, گ- gaf).

Persian contains many borrowings from Arabic, Turkish, English and French (for example, "thank you").

The pronunciation

The spoken language and the written language have different forms. The transliterations in the Latin alphabet below relate to the spoken language, while the forms in the Persian alphabet relate to the written language.

Some Persian sounds do not exist in German: kh is pronounced like a short and throaty "r" that corresponds to the Spanish iota comes close. The H however, it is pronounced as aspirated in German. The gh is pronounced like a guttural "r" in German, das r is rolled like the Italians or the Spaniards. The â is pronounced openly, as in the word "gold".
