Why do people slam doors

Constant slamming of the front door

  • Hello everybody,

the front door to the house has been slamming so loudly for about 4 weeks (wood on wood)
in such a way that there is already noise pollution. Actually, I'm not overly sensitive
    Neighbor. On the contrary !

Lately the door has been constantly manipulated (hook to fall quietly, buzzer electronics,
Closing function) - Not really bad - except for the constant popping (at peak times
Apparently someone manages to slam the door up to 6-7 times within 10 minutes.
And dat all day from morning to morning ...

Personally, I have already spoken to most of the neighbors that it would be nice
to close the door quietly by hand - if you should start 2 minutes earlier if necessary
but probably not a problem - most "hypocritical" understanding, others referred
naughty on the landlord .... Of course it is not much use because there is constant manipulation !!

Actually, I don't really want to mess with the neighbors 8): D

Maybe one or the other here has an idea how the problem could be solved.
Possibly with an interesting saying (not 08/15: please close the door quietly) of the people
Could make you think and considerate ...!?

    LG Matt

  • Moin Martin,

nice sayings - but I don't necessarily need a report for "sexual harassment".
And when I start with it, there are slogans like toilet doors with cell phone numbers
    in the stairwell

  • Hi,
does the door have an automatic closer? Such a box with lever arms that pulls the door shut? (Mostly attached at the top)
Then it may be that now that it is warmer again, the damping has to be turned off. There's an adjusting screw somewhere on the box. At least that's how it always worked for us (the door also needed a separate winter / summer setting.

  • Or maybe you can remedy this with some of these sealing tapes for windows. Didn't have to stick around the whole door. Maybe a few small pieces that you glue in place are enough.
For example this stuff: (I couldn't think of anything else)

  • Oh yes, there are neighbors.
Install (have) door closer, or adjust existing closer. I advise you to do that too.
If the landlord has no sense for it, I would favor the alternative of sticking in sealing tape myself.

I have the handlebar riser for clip-ons
  • So if the door really has an automatic locking system then it should be easy to solve. I also had to adjust our door to the temperatures. On ours there are three screws for adjusting three angles of the door. The screws are hidden behind a cover. I even have instructions on how to set that I could scan in.
  • Thank you for your numerous tips and suggestions.
Even if some weren't really useful, they at least cheered us up

I took another closer look at the box with the automatic locking mechanism:

Somehow it's just a box with no arm.
On one side there are two smaller slots - possibly for oiling!?
At the bottom there is a circular black rubber seal, underneath is
a lower, larger screw is visible. Since I don't really understand anything about it
I'd rather follow Hans's suggestion again - but only with the one
annoy the landlord - because people who can not really understand the meaning of a conversation or want to give in the face could lead to even bigger problems.

In addition, bikers don't really hit "defenseless grannies": D: D

However, you might think my neighbors are reading this unnoticed, because
Strangely enough, it's not that bad today ...

With this in mind: LG Matt

  • How about a poem ... maybe it helps

    Dear neighbours

    We're not coming to rest
she closes the door very loudly.
    Are already very annoyed,
because you slam the door so hard.
    That's not very nice
    keep falling out of bed.
And should you do that extra,
we wouldn't find it so laughable.
So please be so kind and wise
    please close the door quietly.
Because if you are considerate of your neighbors,
knows how to behave in a community (or: I'm sure a great guy!)

    Greetings, Martina

    Moin Matt,

otherwise you can try again whether there is a manufacturer and possibly the type on it.
Maybe you will find the right guy here or here, for example. Then, once you've figured out the right type, you might be lucky to find an instruction manual for it. The setting should then be easy to do. If you are unsure whether you should do it yourself, try the caretaker or, if he cannot be reached, the landlord.
