Anti thrombosis stockings
ATS (compression stockings) are used, as the name suggests, to compress the leg and are intended to prevent deep vein thrombosis by increasing the venous return flow or, in the case of a pre-existing thrombosis, to avoid expansion. They exist in different classes, depending on the intended use.
In thrombosis prophylaxis for bed-ridden patients (surgery ...), blood coagulation is usually inhibited with low-molecular heparin. This is also used in the case of an existing thrombosis, due to the form of application (subcutaneous injection) and for reasons of cost, for longer therapeutic anticoagulation this is usually on phenprocoumon (Marcumar©) changed.
