How many cities does Slovakia have
Picturesque Slovakia and High Tatras
Date: Monday, August 30th - Tuesday, September 7th, 2021
A journey steeped in history to the most beautiful cities in Slovakia, breathtaking natural landscapes, the High Tatras and national parks
Experience the most beautiful cities in Slovakia, for example the health resort Strbske Pleso, Kezmarok, located at the foot of the High Tatras, the world heritage city of Levoca in the Spiš and of course the historic Bratislava.
Enjoy the tremendous impressions of nature in the High Tatras and in the Pieniny National Park. Historic and imposing buildings such as the Spiš Castle and the Cerveny Klastor round off our trip.
“Little” Slovakia ”is a truly large country in terms of natural beauties, and not only because of the high mountain region of the Tatra Mountains. The whole country is criss-crossed by mountain ranges and hills, which have been developed for hiking and experiencing nature. Last but not least, those who are hungry for culture will also get their money's worth, because not only the capital Bratislava has a magical old town to offer. Almost all district towns were able to retain their original flair and have been spruced up beautifully in recent years. The cultural life in Bratislava and other centers such as Banská Bystrica is lively and varied.
Mountains - from hills to steep cliffs - determine the landscape here. The Carpathian Mountains already begin in the capital; they are called the Little Carpathians here and are replaced further north by the White Carpathian Mountains and other mountain ranges that connect them with the Beskids on the Polish border. In the north, the High Tatras stretches north-east with a number of peaks that rise above 2600 m. In the heart of the country, the ore-bearing low mountain ranges complete the mountain panorama of Slovakia.

So we have the opportunity to get to know the real life in the Czech Republic without crowds of tourists and overpriced services. Brno has a beautiful historical center with monuments dating back to the 11th century, a lot of baroque and renaissance buildings. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Wednesday, September 1, 2021 | Brno - Trencin - Strbske Pleso
From Brno in the morning we continue our journey to western Slovakia to Trencin, where we will again do a city tour. One of the most famous is the Trencin Castle, which attracts many tourists. Then drive to Strbske Pleso. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: Thursday, September 2, 2021 | High Tatras round trip
Today we take a tour in one of the last natural paradises, the High Tatras. We are in the highest part of the Carpathian Mountains. Two thirds of the High Tatras belong to Slovakia and one third to Poland. In 1949 it was the first national park in Slovakia and in 1993, together with the Polish part of the Tatra Mountains, it was declared a “Tatra Biosphere Reserve” by UNESCO. We enjoy a breathtaking landscape in the smallest high mountains of the Slovak Republic. Pure nature at around 2000m altitude. A gondola ride to Skalnate Pleso, a high mountain lake with a famous observatory, rounds off the day. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Friday, September 3, 2021 | Excursion to the Zipser Ländchen
Hardly anyone believes that in the midst of the natural landscape between the High Tatras and the Slovak Ore Mountains there is a high density of ancient culture and excellent art treasures. Today we are going on a trip to this delightful little Spiš country. In Kezmarok we will visit the city and see an articulated church from inside and outside. Afterwards we visit the magnificent Renaissance town hall and the Gothic St. Jacob's Church in Levoca, the second largest church in Slovakia. At the end of the day we visit one of the largest castles in Central Europe, the majestic Zipser
Castle. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: Saturday, September 4, 2021 | Excursion to Pieniny National Park
To the northeast of the High Tatras is the Pieniny National Park, which we will visit today. In this national park is the Cerveny Klastor, a former monastery that is now the location of a museum (visit). The most famous sight of the park is the border river Dunajec, on which we take a raft trip. Finally, we will visit the open-air museum in Stara Lubovna. It reflects the architecture, way of life and culture of the Spiš. Dinner with Slovak specialties, wine and folklore music in the Koliba "Patria".
Day 7: Sunday, September 5, 2021 | Strbske Pleso - Bratislava
Today we take a guided tour of Banska Bystrica, where we will visit, among other things, the historical site of the Slovak National Uprising. The most beautiful view of the colorful square is today from the slim tower clock. The most beautiful building in the southern row of houses on the square is the Thurzo House. Some ancient houses on the square used to form the town castle together. The sixth largest city in Slovakia is a cultural and economic center of central Slovakia. Thanks to its central location, it is also the seat of several institutions. Then continue to the capital of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava. Guided city tour. Dinner at the hotel.
