What does "stress" actually mean?

This means that your body and your psyche react to external stimuli with tension. That is not a bad thing in and of itself. Your body is giving you a signal that something is wrong and that you should stay alert. However, long-term stress can make you restless and sick. Therefore, you should be careful with yourself, especially in everyday school life. We have put together seven tips.

With fun to learning success - that's how it's done

1. Tip: Bring more structure into your learning routines!

When it comes to doing homework or studying maths, the right planning is essential. If you set fixed times for your assignments, you can finish your workload much faster. In addition, you are less stressed because you don't always have the mountain of work in front of you, but only the respective stage. The best way to structure your week or day is with a to-do list.

2nd tip: keep yourself tidy!

What does your room actually look like? Does it reflect the chaos in your head? Take a few minutes each day to clean up. After that you will feel calmer inside. Otherwise, the disorder in your environment will stress you subconsciously. You also save time because you don't have to look for your school supplies first.

3rd tip: think about where the stress is coming from!

Is it really just school that is making you restless right now? Or is there something else that is bothering you? Maybe it's an argument with your best friend. Or are your parents annoying you a bit right now? Think about which factors are causing you stress. In the next step, try to get the causes out of the way. On closer inspection, some problems are not as bad as they seem. Sometimes it helps to write down stressful things. Then the head doesn't have to deal with it all the time.

4th tip: Find a balance!

Nobody can study continuously. It is important that you switch off in between so that you can regain strength for the next offensive. That's why you should find a balance to school. Regular exercise can work wonders. If that's not your thing, take a walk in the fresh air every now and then. Or try relaxation exercises. After that, the world looks completely different.

Tip 5: take time for creative hobbies!

Do you like to draw or have you wanted to rehearse with your band for ages? Then take the time for it. It is important that you do something besides school that changes your mind and arouses your creativity.

6. Tip: Make sure that you sleep enough and well!

If you don't get enough sleep, you get irritated more quickly and are often in a bad mood. Too little sleep can lead to or exacerbate stress. So make sure that you get enough sleep, especially during strenuous school phases. Your body needs rest to gather strength for everyday life. Here you can read how to sleep really well.

7. Tip: Talk about your worries!

If the stress doesn't decrease over weeks, you should seek help. Either you ask your parents for advice or turn to a trust teacher. If there is a psychologist at your school, you can also talk to him or her for a solution.
