Development of interactive applications in MATLAB

Coronavirus outbreak 2019 (COVID-19) update

Due to increased concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak, we are offering additional instructor-led online courses as an alternative to regular classes.

In this one-day course, you will develop interactive user interfaces for your MATLAB®-Applications (apps). You use controls such as buttons, sliders and menus to create a robust and user-friendly interface for your MATLAB application. You do not need any experience in programming graphical user interfaces for this course. The topics include:

  • Design the layout with the App Designer
  • Creation of callback functions for interactive components
  • Creation and updating of graphic objects
  • Create application components that respond to user behavior
  • Build apps with multiple windows

requirements

Day 1 of 1
Use the App Designer development environment

Aim: Use the App Designer to arrange graphical components and add interactive behavior.

  • Working with the App Designer interface
  • Adding callback functions to the components
  • Implement the callback functionality
  • Share the application with other users
Creating and updating graphics

Aim: Creating apps with graphical elements that can either be changed through user interaction or that adapt continuously.

  • Use of visualization functions within apps
  • Access to graphic objects within an app
  • Creating components to continuously update the app
  • Use the same callback functions for several components
  • Addition of auxiliary and initialization functionality
Create changeable components

Aim: Build robust and flexible apps through components that dynamically adapt to user interactions.

  • Adding and using local application data
  • Working with grouped components
  • Customize the properties of components
Manage multiple windows and apps

Aim: Create apps that use additional dialogs and helper applications.

  • Use of standard dialogs
  • Catching errors
  • Creation of auxiliary dialogs
  • Passing application data between apps
