01 Ordinary Portland cement It is used for all general purpose and widely used for all ordinary concrete work, mortar, plaster of paris, etc. 02. Portland Pozzolana cement It is also the most commonly used type of cement. Power plant waste materials such as fly ash are used in the manufacture of Portland pozzolana cement. It is used in bulk concrete structures such as high-rise buildings, under water concrete structures such as bridges, pillars, dams, etc. The rate of hydration is lower with this type of cement.

03. Fast setting cement It is used in concrete where mold work needs to be removed early. Rapid hardening cement is pretty similar to Ordinary Portland cement because of its textures, but it's a bit finer than OPC. Therefore, it reaches high strength in the early days. 04 Extra fast hardening cement Suitable for concreting in cold weather. This type of cement accelerates the setting and hardening process. The compressive strength of Extra Rapid Hardening Cement is one to two percent higher than that of Rapid Hardening Cement. 05 Quick setting cement This type of cement is used where quick setting is required in a very short time such as under water structures, cold and rainy weather conditions etc. 06. Low heat cement The name itself indicates a low heat of hydration. It is used in solid concrete structures such as large floors, large raft slabs, gravity dams, thick sidewalks, etc. 07. Sulphate-resistant cement Sulphate resistant cement is beneficial in the area where the concrete is prone to sulphate attack in large quantities. It is used where concrete has exposure to seacoast or soil or salt water groundwater. 08. Portland blast furnace slag cement It is special mixed cement with low heat of hydration. It is used in bulk concrete structures such as dam. 09. High alumina cement This type of cement is used where concrete structures are exposed to high temperatures such as workshops, refractories, foundries, etc. 10 White cement It is more expensive and is used for architectural purposes such as pre-cast curtain walling and cladding etc. It is also preferred for terrazzo flooring work. 11 Colored cement This type of cement is widely used for decorative work in floors and ceilings. 12 Air entraining cement This type of cement is particularly suitable to improve the workability with smaller water-cement ratios and to improve the frost resistance of concrete. Cavities also reduce the durability of concrete. 13 Hydrophobic cement The hydrophobic quality of the cement would facilitate its storage for longer periods in extremely wet climatic conditions. In India certain places like Assam, Shillong etc., get a lot of precipitation in the rainy season, had high humidity in other seasons. 14 Masonry cement This type of cement is mainly used for masonry construction. 15. Expansive cement The purpose of this type of cement is to reduce the size and amount of shrinkage cracks. These cements are increasingly used for the repair of concrete structures. 16 Oil well cement Oil well cement is used by the petroleum industry to cement gas and oil wells at high temperatures and pressures.
